The origins of the collection can be traced back to Romain Gauthier’s participation in Only Watch 2021. Shortly after, Romain Gauthier introduced the C (Continuum) collection, which offers a compelling sportive watch that was missing in the core offering. Since then, several editions have been introduced. The example we have on offer is a second-generation C, limited to 36 examples.

Romain Gauthier is known for experimenting with his “Freedom Collection” and unleashing his creativity. This black titanium case measures 41×9.55mm and features three-dimensional hands and indexes made of 18k white gold, filled with Super-LumiNova. The applied hour markers are finished to the exact same specification. Instead of a series of enclosed circles, the open, airy dial is made of part orthogonal lines forming vanishing points with the axes of the hands, reinforcing the notion of continuity.

The black titanium case features alternative grooves throughout. When exposed to natural light, certain facets appear mirror-like. Framing the dial is a titanium bezel coated with a technical ADLC treatment, allowing for an aesthetically pleasing black finish with an eye-catching, geometric profile unlike anything previously seen on a Romain Gauthier timepiece. Between the bezel and caseback, also coated with a technical ADLC treatment, the one-piece caseband and lugs are geometrically sculpted, with satin and polished finishes, as well as aesthetic grooves cleverly deployed to highlight the resulting shapes.

The watch is intentionally light, making it a convenient choice for sporting activities. Even more impressively, this watch does not distinctly fit into a certain time period, whether modern or classic.

The movement boasts a 60-hour power reserve and is derived from the HMS. It is constructed using 24 jewels and 154 components. The movement features some of Romain Gauthier’s traditional finishing methods, such as the grained and polished bevels.
